Here in Las Vegas, every time there is a major convention, the rates go WAY up. During COMDEX, the rooms that are usually $39 go for over $200. The cheapest rates I have heard of for New Years Eve are $500 per night with a 4 night minimum. Next time you are in one of these hotel rooms, look in the closet area, or near the door. The maximum room rate is posted somewhere. I work at a hotel in Vegas, and the cheapest rate posted is near $500 per night.
