Matrix

This machine is a Dell 4066 server with 64M of memory and 8Gb of disk. We are currently running Unixware 2.03. It's loaded with an SMC Ethercard, and a pair of DPT SCSI cards. The following services are running on the system:

CERN WWW Server.

This is running a caching proxy server. You should configure your client software to use hostname www.ajlc.waterloo.on.ca, port 80 as a proxy for all access methods.

BIND 4.9.5 Domain Nameserver.

Set up your TCP software to use the IP address of this end of the link as a nameserver.

POP3

Post Office Protocol is a method for clients to manipulate their maildrops. It is typically used with DOS/Windows mail clients like Eudora, or Pegasus.

Network News

We are running the C News Cleanup Release (patchlevel G). We also run an NNTP Server. This one is modified to handle the News Overview database. There are currently no access controls, so anyone can connect. Please refrain from doing so unless you are on KWNet.

WAIS

Wide Area Information Service. This is a set of programs for creating and searching databases of documents.
